Orthopedics Team

Our team, led by Dr. Ernest “Chappie” U. Conrad, studies and treats problems affecting the growing bones, joints and muscles of children.

Among the conditions we treat are:

  • Sports injuries
  • Injuries, such as broken bones and torn ligaments
  • Limb and spine deformities, such as clubfoot and scoliosis
  • Genetic conditions, such as dwarfism
  • Damage in tissue, such as bone tumors

All of the doctors on our team are board-certified in their specialties, and provide surgical and non-surgical care for your child.

We are experts in observing children’s growth and in recommending treatment. To help your child, we often use physical and rehabilitation therapies, braces, splints and casts. When surgery is needed, we are very experienced in performing procedures to treat musculoskeletal problems.

In addition to doctors, our team includes highly trained genetic counselors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in musculoskeletal conditions.

We work closely with our colleagues in other specialties, and our patients have full access to the wide variety of services provided by a major regional medical center.

Sports Medicine

At Children’s, we are experts in treating growing athletes. We develop physical therapy programs for children recovering from injuries. When surgery is needed, we use techniques that limit the risk of injury to growing bones.
